Today, I’m happy to announce the release of new versions for Form Block Pro and Form Block, marking one of the largest release pack for these form plugins.

Multi-step forms

Completely new in Form Block Pro 1.5.0 is the section block, which allows to create multi-step forms to improve engagement, especially when it comes to larger forms. Each section can be built fully independently and it even works with field dependencies, so that you can conditionally show or hide certain sections.

Repeater improvements

The repeater fields, added in Form Block Pro version 1.3.0, received an update and allow now to define a minimum and a maximum amount of repeats. Additionally, you can now remove added repeating items while filling a form.

Spam protection

As part of Form Block 1.8.0, the spam protection got improved significantly by adding two new features:

A new time-based honeypot mechanism detects form submissions that occurred too quickly or in a heuristic specific amount of time, so that bots can be detected easily.

Additionally, a flood control defines a specific amount of seconds (default: 30 seconds) in which a user cannot submit a form on the website again.

Quality of life improvements

Some noteworthy additional changes for Form Block 1.8.0 are:

  • Select options can now be sorted if added in a wrong order
  • If a form as none or too many “Reply-to” email fields, a notice will now be displayed on top of the form, with direct links to the blocks

Aside of that, this release contains multiple fixed bug and shortcomings.

All changes in the changelogs
